Where VOGUE eats lunch

Within a tight radius of Darabshaw House you'll find fashion editors at The Table and copy editors at The Pantry

Here’s the jazz-playing joint you step into for a peaceful meal, brunch, lunch or dinner, and chef Alex Sanchez sends out some of the best food Mumbai has to offer.
Definitely get: The Taglierini Pasta with black truffle -- even diehard non-vegetarians have a soft spot for it.
Bonus: The high tea brings out light cucumber sandwiches and fluffy scones.

Go early to grab a table at this tiny little café-gallery. The food is amazingly fresh, the place bright, and the art interesting. Great breakfast option too.
Definitely get: The Med salad -- it’s a crunchy group of veggies, but the feta cheese on top makes it a winner (if you know where they get it from, drop us a line!). Go with a half portion and order a grilled Ham and Cheese Classic sandwich.
Bonus: If you’re in a breakfast-for-lunch kind of mood, get the waffle with fruit, honey and granola. Don’t scrimp on the butter, and wash it down with a fresh juice.

Always busy, always delicious. You can’t really go wrong
with anything on the Deli’s menu. Plus, you’re bound to
run into people you know, making it a great break from the office.
Definitely get: The Baked Macaroni and Cheese is the
kind of comfort food that’s hard to come by.
The Dulce De Leche ice cream is a particularly good way to end your meal,
especially if it's a typically hot Mumbai day.
Bonus: The chocolate chip cookies are excellent, but plan ahead and order them at the beginning of your meal. Ask for a glass of skim milk on the side, to dunk.

We don’t need to tell you that Britania is an institution, but it’s especially dear to us because the restaurant is about 20 feet away from our offices. Hopefully it’ll stay the way it is, peeling walls and all, forever and ever -- although we do appreciate the minor tweaks that pop up every so often, like the new life-size cardboard cutouts of Kate and William on the railing upstairs.
Definitely get: The Chicken Berry Pulav and the Mutton Dhansak. The Caramel Custard is kind of a necessity -- don’t leave without trying it.
Bonus: A chat with the owner and a look at his letter from Buckingham
Palace make the worst days instantly excellent. This is a fact. Also,
they occasionally have a litter of kittens looking for homes -- the perfect takeaway?

The Pantry, by the oh-so-cool Woodside boys, is Kala Ghoda’s new café-bakery,
but you’ll have a hard time believing you’re in Mumbai when you see it -- nifty
French-industrial interiors are a cool escape from the bustle of the Deep South. It’s also a great win for sustainability, and wherever possible, the produce is sourced locally. Socially responsible food is an idea we can get behind.
Definitely get: They have the best Quiche Lorraine, and if you’re an arugula fan,
Marguerite’s Mix of leaves, figs and gorgonzola will make your day.  The Banana Fig Shake goes with everything, as does the lighter Pomegranate and Sweet Lime Juice.
Bonus: The brilliantly healthy breakfast menu. You really can’t get a better start to
your day than red millet pancakes and cinnamon brûlée oat porridge.
